Imagine a modality where you can sit back and relax and do nothing and get help! That’s Neurofeedback!

NeurOptimal Dynamical Neurofeedback (NO) is a computer-based brain training system that helps optimize your brain functioning. It’s a non-invasive, non-medical, and non-linear type of system that provides your brain with information about what it is doing in real time, as it’s doing it. The brain uses that feedback to let go of unnecessary, inefficient and obsolete patterns that no longer serve.

Train Your Brain to Be More Fit!

NeurOptimal Neurofeedback promotes brain fitness. It helps with focus, mental acuity, concentration, problem solving, multitasking, and learning. NO enhances brain stability and resilience, enhancing relaxation, stress management, sleep management, and a greater sense of calm.

NeurOptimal contributes to general wellness, by promoting relaxation and better stress management. NO also can help a person have a different relationship to their “issues” or “stuff”, promote self-confidence, and a greater sense of feeling comfortable in everyday living.

When you have emotional issues and symptoms (anxiety, depressed mood, flashbacks, etc.), your brain is stuck in a repetitive pattern

BRAIN WAVES: Our brain constantly produces electrical activity, at various frequencies, called our EEG brain waves.

  • Infra-low is <.5Hz (slow cortical potentials, thought to underly higher brain functions.)
  • Delta is .5 to 3 Hz. (slow, deep brain waves occurring during deep sleep and meditation, helping with restorative and regenerative processes.)
  • Theta is 3 to 8 Hz. (occurring in sleep and meditation, when we dream and have intuitions, but is also where our old issues are —fears, old history, nightmares.)
  • Alpha is 8 to 12 Hz. (being in the present moment, quiet, flowing awareness, the brain’s resting state, learning, mind/body integration.)
  • Beta is 12 to 38 Hz (normal waking alertness, attentive focused mental activity.) Low Beta is 12 to 15 Hz (a “fast idle” or musing.) High Beta is 15 to 22 Hz (complex thought, integrating new experiences, excitement, or high anxiety.
  • Gamma is 38 to 42 Hz (the fastest brain waves involving involving simultaneous processing from different brain waves, higher consciousness, and spiritual emergence.)

NeurOptimal Neurofeedback helps your brain have optimal flexibility, the easy ability to shift brain states as life requires

Ideally, we want to have all these normal human brain waves frequencies easily available to use when we need them. But we might have a chronic pattern of brain wave imbalance: For example with constant stress mode we likely have too much beta running and not enough alpha. NeurOptimal Neurofeedback can help.

NeurOptimal Neurofeedback optimizes your wellness

How a Typical Session Works

In NO Neurofeedback, you are hooked up to the computer, which is listening to your brain’s electrical activity through little sensors placed on the scalp. (You also have little grounding wires on your ears and headphones for listening to the music, and a visual monitor with fractal-type images if you want.)

When your brain does something less-than-optimal for it, it will be given feedback (in the form of an auditory signal, a very brief music interruption).

This signals to the brain, “Hey, that thing you did, you don’t need to do it anymore!”

The brain uses that information to let go of that particular pattern, immediately re-organizing itself. Since our brains are non-linear dynamical systems, letting go of each pattern triggers a new re-organization.

In NO Neurofeedback, we sit in a comfortable chair, listen to music, look at colorful images (or close our eyes), and receive input (without any conscious awareness) about how to let go of unnecessary brain “habits.”

In NeurOptimal Neurofeedback, we do not diagnose or treat. The United States FDA has recently classified NeurOptimal Neurofeedback as a wellness device (our desired classification.) NO promotes and optimizes wellness but does not do “medical treatment.”

Mary’s Neurofeedback Success Story

Mary is someone who has done a lot of personal growth and was curious about how NO might help her. She wanted help with chronic anxiety. She has had ten neurofeedback sessions so far.

In her first few sessions she noticed that not only did her brain produce less of her characteristic anxious thoughts, but when it did produce them, her body had much less of a physiological anxiety response.

To her, it almost felt that her body was separate (in a good way!) from what her brain was worrying about. She also reported that a number of colleagues, her personal physician, and her adult child all reported that she was very different, unusually calm and relaxed.

Lydia’s Neurofeedback Success Story

Lydia had long struggled with compulsive eating and made little progress with it. She also had been unable to fully recognize that it was a significant issue. She did 20 sessions of NO Neurofeedback before she moved to another city for a better job.

She did both a therapy session and a neurofeedback session each week, so we were able to track the effects of the NO quite closely. Within five sessions she spontaneously was able to say that she believed she in fact had “an eating disorder”, which she did but up to that point had never had that kind of perspective.

In the remaining sessions, she became calmer, had fewer of her typical anxiety thoughts and catastrophic worrying, had more self-esteem and self-confidence, and smiled and laughed more. (If we had been able to continue, who knows how her eating disorder might have shifted?!)

FAQs

A More Complete Therapy uses a holistic mix of therapy and energy healing tecniques to get powerful results. Some of my most commonly used methods include:

Yes I do offer Traditional Therapy. This is Talk Therapy and usually is for people who are new to therapy or only want to work on a specific issue for a shorter period of time, but I am open to exploring what your interests and needs are.

Yes, I do Telehealth!

Over years of initial research, Telehealth has been shown to be highly effective. During the times of mandated stay-at-home, it is the safest way to do therapy! I do Telehealth by phone, FaceTime, Zoom, and a therapy video service called Doxyme.

Not all of A Complete Therapy can be done via Telehealth but a good portion of it can.

We can do: Talk Therapy, Energy Healing, Spirituality, Soul level techniques, and Evolutionary Energetics. We can do components of Body Therapy and EMDR, remotely.

During the pandemic, we cannot do Neurofeedback in my office, but you could buy a Personal Home Neurofeedback system (and I can guide you through using it and help you incorporate its effects into your personal growth process.)

A More Complete Therapy is a private pay therapy — the fee is $250 per 60-minute session.

Most Complete Therapy sessions include Talk Therapy, Body Therapy, Energy Healing, NeurOptimal Neurofeedback, and Soul Plan Reading.

  • EMDR sessions are often 90 minutes long ($300) but can also be done in 60-minute sessions ($250.)
  • The fee for Soul Realignment readings by themselves is $600 but when done as part of a Complete Therapy Experience it is $250 (for the reading, clearing, and paper work) in addition to the $250 reporting session (90 minutes.) [During the times of the pandemic crisis, reduced rates are available.]

It is possible to come for my separate modalities, and not therapy:

  • If you come for just EMDR and not Complete Therapy, the fee is $250 for the 60 minute session and $300 for the 90 minute session.
  • If you come for Neurofeedback (and not therapy) the fee $200 per session or $150 per session when you buy a package of 10.
  • A Soul Plan Reading by itself (without therapy) is $400 and is a 90 minute reading.
  • A Soul Realignment Reading by itself (without therapy) is $600, and involves the practitioner doing the clearing separately from the feedback/reporting session (which takes 90 minutes.)

Yes.

I accept insurance for traditional Talk Therapy sessions. (They can include some meditation, breathing, relaxation techniques as they are also covered by insurance.) These sessions are 45 minutes. I am on most major insurance panels, including Aetna, Cigna, Emblem, United Health Care, Medicare, etc.
